District 7 Fire Rescue is proud to announce its recent recognition at the GOLD Level by the Texas EMS for Children (EMSC) Program, a statewide initiative committed to enhancing pediatric emergency care.
This prestigious award reflects our department’s commitment to delivering the highest standard of prehospital care to children throughout Bexar County. The EMS Recognition Program is a multi-phase initiative designed for EMS agencies that strive to improve their readiness and capabilities when caring for pediatric patients. Earning the Gold Level distinction means our department has gone above and beyond in training, equipment, and procedures to ensure the youngest members of our community receive specialized and effective emergency care.
Why This Matters
Children are not just small adults—they have unique medical needs that require specialized equipment, knowledge, and care approaches. District 7 Fire Rescue has implemented pediatric-specific training and resources across our department to better respond to the complex challenges of caring for critically ill or injured children in the field.
This recognition also serves as an opportunity to build stronger ties with the communities we serve. Through public education, injury prevention efforts, and awareness campaigns, we are working to reduce pediatric emergencies and improve outcomes for children across the region.
A Team Effort
Achieving this level of recognition would not be possible without the dedication of our EMS professionals, who continually train and prepare for every type of emergency—especially those involving our most vulnerable patients. Their compassion, commitment, and pursuit of excellence are what make this achievement possible.
